Quick answer
What guarantees come with a home battery installation?
The home batteries and inverters we fit typically carry a 10-year manufacturer warranty, and installations come with an insurance-backed guarantee through our installation partner. If something goes wrong, contact us first. If a complaint cannot be resolved, it can be escalated to the TrustMark dispute resolution service at no cost to you.

A home battery is a long-term piece of equipment, so the cover behind it matters as much as the hardware. Every system installed by our partner, Home Heating Services (Scotland) Ltd, carries the guarantees below.
How long does the battery warranty last?
The manufacturer battery warranty is 10 years, covering approximately 8,000 cycles with a design life of around 22 years at one cycle per day.
How long does the inverter warranty last?
The manufacturer inverter warranty is 10 years.
What happens if the installer goes out of business?
An insurance-backed guarantee through the Independent Warranty Association covers your system if the installing company ceases trading.
Is the installation workmanship guaranteed?
Yes. We install through MCS-certified partners, and installation workmanship is guaranteed by Home Heating Services (Scotland) Ltd.
What the warranties cover, and what they do not
Manufacturer warranties cover defects in the battery and inverter, and the battery warranty also covers capacity falling faster than the maker allows for over the warranty period. They do not usually cover damage from flooding, moving the battery yourself, or alterations by someone other than an approved installer. Keep the handover pack somewhere safe: it holds the serial numbers, commissioning record and grid notification you would need for any claim, and it is useful if you sell the house.
Looking after a battery in Scottish conditions
Modern lithium iron phosphate batteries need very little routine care. The main things are position and airflow. Indoors, in a hallway cupboard, utility room or garage, keep vents clear and do not stack boxes against the unit. Outdoors, which is more common on harled semis and rural homes, the enclosure is chosen for wind-driven rain on the west coast and frost inland, but it is still worth checking after a big storm that nothing has blown against it. In very cold spells a battery may limit how fast it charges to protect itself; that is normal behaviour, not a fault.
Your system is monitored through the app set up at commissioning. If the battery stops cycling, an error appears, or the charge pattern looks wrong after a tariff change, get in touch and we will check the settings remotely first, then arrange a visit if needed.
